Origin of the company
1949 - The company was founded by Anton Hopf. In this period, known as the beginning of the history of plastic injection moulding, Anton Hopf started as one of the pioneers in the field of plastic processing with one of the first machines for single orders and small series. In the following years - marked by a constant expansion of the company - the Hopf company was able to process a range of different products.
1953 - Anton Hopf established his first large manufacturing plant in Zirndorf (Germany) with its own mould making and he began to expand his product range to include thermoplastic injection moulding.
Further developments
1977 - Hans-Jürgen Hopf joined his father’s business. He became part of the management team and was responsible for the further development of the company.
In order to continuously expand the company and build up a large customer base in various sectors such as electronics, furniture, packaging, toys, mirror and glass production, household goods, medical and safety technology, the company was able to build up a wide range of raw materials and machine types.
Through this diversity, the company was able to demonstrate its ability to retain and support customers by providing comprehensive advice, service and decision integration throughout the product lifecycle.
As a result, today we stand for long-term relationships with our customers through excellent customer advice and service throughout the product lifecycle, based on direct and close communication between our customers and us.
1980 - The company was converted into a GmbH - since then the company name has been A. Hopf Kunststoffverarbeitung (plastic processing) GmbH. The letter “A” in the company name comes from the name of the founder, Anton Hopf, who died in 1989. Other milestones in the company's history include the establishment of another manufacturing plant and the construction of a clean room production facility for medical devices.
2009 - Michael Hopf, Hans-Jürgen Hopf's son, joined the company and focused on developing the medical applications business. They ran the company together until Hans-Jürgen passed away in 2020.
2022 – A. Hopf GmbH became fully owned by the Promepla group. Since then, Michael Hopf and Michel Sasportes have been the Managing Directors of the company.
Internationalisation of A. Hopf GmbH
By focusing on precision injection moulding for the medical and safety markets and investing in innovative new product development, we have been able to network with international customers and companies. As a result, our company sells its products worldwide. With major global customers as well as sales to medium and smaller customers in the European Economic Area, particularly in recent years, the company name A. Hopf GmbH Kunststoffverarbeitung is synonymous with quality, precision, reliability and flexibility.
